Nicola made a conscious decision after qualifying in 1980 to work exclusively with charities and other ‘not for profit’ organisations. She joined Myers Clark in 2007 to lead the Charities and Not for Profit team and now has over 30 years’ experience in this specialist area. The many changes in accounting, reporting, funding and operations that have impacted her clients over the years has kept her challenged and engaged and her enthusiasm for the sector is unabated.
Nicola currently works with a portfolio of around 70 clients delivering a mix of audit, independent examination, management and statutory accounting and general advisory services.
Whilst remaining professional, Nicola fosters close relationships with her clients and works with them on a one to one basis. Indeed, Nicola is often the ’first stop’ for help and advice; if she can’t help she knows other charity professionals who can.
Nicola is also head of the Assurance and Advisory department with responsibility for training and developing the 19 strong team including keeping everyone up to date; recruitment and retention of staff; efficient working; and service delivery standards.
Outside work, Nicola enjoys the usual: reading, cinema, theatre, music, eating out, travel, socialising generally and spending time with her two grown up boys. She also sits on various charity boards to get the perspective ‘from the other side’.
