Vee Bharakda, MICM, Business Recovery Manager

Vee joined Myers Clark in 2007 and specialises in the business recovery and insolvency profession. She has over 16 years experience, particularly in retail, electronics, licensed trade and publishing. Vee often helps to sell a business as a going concern to maximise its value and to preserve jobs. She has a personal approach to those burdened with high levels of debt, ensuring that they receive appropriate advice based on their personal circumstances. A dynamic and forthright individual, Vee’s outside interests include swimming, reading and socialising.
Nicola Ferriday, FCA, FCIE, Not-For-Profit Manager

Nicola joined Myers Clark in 2007 to head up the rapidly growing not-for-profit team. Her experience in the not-for-profit sector spans 24 years. Nicola was a founder partner of a specialist charity firm for 12 years, following which she ran her own accountancy practice around the demands of two growing children. Nicola is Lead Trainer for the Association of Charity Independent Examiners. She researches, writes, develops and delivers all their training programmes and also undertakes Independent Examinations for small charities.
Outside work, most of Nicola’s time is taken up running a one-woman concierge service for her two boys but, if she does get any ‘free’ time, has been known to meet up with friends, go to the cinema, read a book and even contemplate gardening.
Sarah Lowe, ACA, Corporate Services Manager

A manager in the Corporate Services Department, Sarah specialises in company accounts and audits for small, not-for-profit organisations and membership organisations. Sarah joined Myers Clark in 1994 and trained for her accountancy exams with the firm. Sarah is kept busy outside of work looking after her very energetic two year old and enjoys spending her spare time with family and friends or at the gym.
Ian Meaburn, FCCA, Corporate Services Manager

Ian manages most large company audits, including all pension scheme audits, and is involved in corporate finance work across a wide range of industries. When business clients need advice on compliance, corporation tax or VAT, Ian’s there to help. With 11 years experience behind him, Ian joined Myers Clark in 2001, qualifying as a member of the ACCA in 2003. A keen Liverpool fan, Ian also enjoys watching rugby and cricket, preferably with a glass of real ale in his hand. Aside of that he’s a bit of a film buff and reads a lot, mainly biographies.
Hazel O’Hara, BA (Hons), FCCA, Turnbull Associates Manager

Hazel originally joined the firm in 1986 and qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1995. Many of Hazel’s clients are small owner-managed companies, with whom she has built up a good rapport and a high level of trust over the years. Hazel took a short break in 2004 and moved to Spain. Missing friends and family, she rejoined Myers Clark in 2007 as a manager in the Corporate Services Department and now jointly heads Turnbull Associates.* A vivacious member of the team, Hazel’s interests include golf, watching international rugby and national hunt racing.
Priya Raja-Motala, ATT, Turnbull Associates Manager

Priya previously headed the Business Services Department within Myers Clark and is now jointly heading Turnbull Associates. She specialises in working with sole traders, partnerships and start-ups by providing tax advice and working with them to ensure their accounts continue to be in order. She also oversees the Outsourcing Department within the firm. Priya joined Myers Clark in 1998 after training in London and gained experience over the last ten years in personal tax, capital gains tax and small business advice including incorporations. Her outside interests include travelling, cooking, yoga and spending time with her family.
Claire Stephenson, BSc (Hons), FCA, Business Services Manager
Claire joined Myers Clark in 1990 to train as a Chartered Accountant after working in scientific research for four years following graduation from Bristol University. Claire qualified in 1995 and worked in the Corporate Services Department until 2003 when she transferred to the Business Services Department. Claire specialises in large unincorporated clients including solicitors and GP practices. She also deals with the personal and partnership tax returns for these clients. Claire’s main interest outside of work is singing and she is a member of three choirs.
Peter Horn, BSc, CTA, Head of Tax
With more than 20 years’ experience in UK tax, Peter has more recently specialised in international taxation and offshore trusts – in particular advising individuals planning to re-settle overseas or acquire property abroad in France, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus, as well as other countries. Peter regularly lectures to the public and to interest groups on these issues and has contributed to a number of articles in specialist magazines and newspapers, as well as other publications.
Rebecca Potton, BA (Hons), ATT, CTA, Business Services Manager
Juggling the needs of shareholders, directors and staff often requires a compromise. With years of experience of advising owner-managers, tax expert and Business Services Manager, Rebecca Potton offers a rare overview of tax implications for the company, directors and shareholders. For those planning to retire she can advise on the most tax efficient way of either selling a business or preparing to pass it on. She also provides clients with advice in all aspects of personal and inheritance taxation. Rebecca joined Myers Clark in 2001 after graduating from the University of East Anglia with a degree in English History and Landscape Archaeology, qualifying as a Chartered Tax Adviser in November 2004. Outside of work Rebecca enjoys spending time with her family and socialising with friends.
Michael Perry, FCA, Tax Investigations Consultant
Michael is a consultant Tax Investigations expert. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980 and has a wealth of over 30 years experience in dealing with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) at all levels.
He is able to assist both clients and other professional firms with tax dispute resolution and provide specialist advice on a whole range of enquiries, from voluntary disclosures and those conducted at local office level, to more complex cases such as suspected serious tax fraud handled by HMRC’s Specialist Investigations Office.
Michael can also provide ad hoc advice, second opinions, seminars and risk assessment in relation to tax investigation matters. Litigation support is available where prosecution for tax offences is a possibility or serious tax fraud is suspected.
